Lauren

Hi, my name is Lauren, and I am a CA-2 anesthesiology resident at Stanford. I am planning on a regional anesthesiology fellowship, and am interested in an academic career as a clinician-educator.

Through much of medical school and residency, my focus had been on academics instead of practicalities, with a vague sense of delayed gratification when it came to financial matters. After having already had misleading experiences (including scare stories brought up to sell disability insurance, etc), I became interested in having more knowledge on the topic. Although managing debt and finances can be difficult on a resident’s salary, I’m interested in these topics because I find the knowledge behind financial decisions, selection of jobs, and nitty-gritty details like billing and RVUs empowering.
